Last week we travelled to Rome for a mini-break. I'd never been and was really looking forward to seeing the sights and made myself some new dresses to take away. I decided to travel in my sailboat Hepburn Shirtwaister as the cotton is a good weight for the current UK weather but not too hot for when we arrived.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are feeling relaxed and raring to go, despite the gloomy weather we're having at the moment. Today I'm sharing my first make of 2018 and she's a beauty! The 1940s Wrap Dress by Sew Over it has been a class for a little while and I know quite a few people have been requesting this pattern release since they first spied it.

Allied Inspired Buchanan Dressing Gown

Have you seen the film Allied? If you’re a fan of 1940s fashion then you really ought to check it out. Set in 1942, it stars Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt as a Resistance fighter and Intelligence officer and is full of intrigue and tension. The plot really has you guessing until the end but it’s the clothes, worn by Marion, which stole the show for me. The costume designer, Joanna Johnston, modelled the designs on original vintage pieces.

Sew Over It Elsie Dress

The Elsie Dress has featured as a Sew Over It class for a while now so I was thrilled to see it being released as a paper sewing pattern. It features a ‘curved v-neckline, princess seams and dramatic pleats’ a.k.a everything I LOVE in a dress. This pattern didn't disappoint - it's gorgeous!
